Week 7 Review
Bishop Brossart 21, Paris 14
The Mustangs responded to their first loss of the season with a dramatic win. Nick Cozzi caught the game-winning 27-yard touchdown pass with under two minutes left in regulation after Paris muffed a punt return. For Bishop Brossart, Cameron Mandel led the way with 110 rushing yards and a touchdown while also posting 17 total tackles, five TFLs and two sacks. The Greyhounds’ Elijah Webb posted seven receptions for 78 yards and a fumble recovery. Preston Cowan chipped in 13 total tackles, four TFLs and a sack, as Christian Johnson also contributed 13 total tackles.
Bracken County 42, Carroll County 14
Make it four wins in a row for the Polar Bears. Daulton Tarter had a commanding 304 rushing yards and three touchdowns—also contributing defensively with 12 total tackles, one TFL and a forced fumble. Codee Lippert added 73 yards on the ground and a touchdown as Greg Benedict found the endzone twice as well.
Mason County 60, Holmes 0
The Royals put up 488 total yards of offense against the winless Bulldogs. Jamarion Bluford threw for 162 yards and four touchdowns. Garryon McClain had two receiving touchdowns with Cole Horch, Blueford and Eldon Lamb also contributing receiving scores. Marquis Bluford, Braylon Likins and Joey Staggs all posted rushing touchdowns.
West Jessamine 28, Montgomery County 14
The Indians’ losing streak slipped to three against a district opponent. Jacob Gumm went 15 of 23 for 206 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Gabe Tipton led receivers with 110 yards from seven receptions. Jaimen Caba had both of Montgomery County’s touchdowns (one rushing and one receiving).
Nicholas County 58, Fairview 30
After being shutout by Sayre, the Blue Jackets found their offense again behind Wyatt Simons’ 205 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Colby Gray added 173 yards on the ground and another touchdown. Chandler Kennedy threw two passes that both were good for scores, with Bentley Crump and Preston Blake recording the receiving touchdowns.
Sayre 56, Bourbon County 6
The Colonels may have scored the first points Sayre has let up since Aug. 30, but the Spartans remain undefeated. Bourbon County’s lone touchdown came from a Malachi Rennie pass to Jacob Ezell. Rennie finished the game with 108 passing yards, while Ezell caught four balls for 96 yards. Sayre’s Luke Pennington went 16 of 18 for 260 yards and six touchdown passes.
Scott 27, Boone County 6
The Eagles got their second win of the year thanks to 82 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns from Kaymon Coleman. It was a stout performance for the Eagles’ defense as well, recording five total sacks (led by 3.5 from Kaiden Bohn) and two interceptions—one of which was returned by Jayden Dodd for a touchdown.
