OWENSBORO, Ky. — The Harrison County Fillies are Kentucky 2A State Champions after defeating North Oldham 10-0 in Saturday’s final at Jack Fisher Park. The Kentucky 2A Championships are midseason tournaments for schools with enrollments of more than 575 students but fewer than 1,000. Harrison County also won the title in 2024.

Harrison County advanced to the eight-team state tournament by defeating Bourbon County 22-2 and Franklin County 13-0 in the Section 5 Tournament. In the state quarterfinals, the Fillies defeated Casey County 13-3, then followed with a 3-1 win over Boyd County in the semifinals.

Senior Shyanne Ross leads the team with 39 hits and a .534 batting average. Freshman Aleigha Newbey ranks second on the team with 34 hits and leads the Fillies in home runs with six and RBIs with 42. Senior Isabella Persinger has added 31 hits.

In the circle, Harrison County has a strong duo in Ross and Bella Persinger. Ross has pitched 76 innings with 130 strikeouts and a 1.93 ERA. Persinger has thrown 67 innings with 81 strikeouts and a 1.78 ERA.

Coach Chad Persinger’s Harrison County team is 20-4 on the season. Three of those losses came during its spring trip to Florida against Louisville powers Assumption, Ballard, and Male.
