BROOKSVILLE, Ky. — Bracken County has announced Aaron Rigdon as its next boys basketball coach.
Rigdon graduated from St. Patrick in 1995 and coached the Saints for three seasons from 2017-18 through 2019-20.
He then served as an assistant coach at Pike County Central for five seasons from 2020-21 through 2024-25. During that stretch, Pike Central won four straight district championships, advanced to the regional semifinals twice, and were regional finalists in 2022.
He was an assistant at Belfry this past season, where the Pirates won 21 games and were 60th District Champions.
Rigdon is St. Patrick’s fifth all-time leading scorer with 1,518 career points. Playing for coach Lex Turner, he helped lead the Saints to their first All “A” Classic regional championship in 1995. He later played at Lindenwood University.
His oldest son, Jaylan Rigdon, plays basketball at the University of Pikeville and averaged 6.8 points per game as a sophomore. His youngest son, Brendan, is a seventh-grader. Aaron Rigdon is currently a special education teacher at Pike County Schools.
Coach Rigdon replaces Terry King after three seasons.
