37th District at Scott

Semifinals (Tue, Oct 20)
6:00 – Bishop Brossart vs. Campbell County
7:30 – Scott vs. Calvary Christian

Championship (Thu, Oct 22)
6:00 – Semifinal Winners

This district has been the strongest one in the region in the past, but not this season with Scott and Campbell County struggling.

Bishop Brossart dominated in the regular season putting together a solid 31-3. The Lady Mustangs have their sights on a deep postseason run but first must beat Campbell County in the district semifinals Tuesday at Scott at 6 p.m.

“Our teamwork and how the girls come together and play together, especially when the game may not be on our side,” Bishop Brossart head coach Danielle French said when asked what she likes the most about the team.”No matter what. They don’t give up. They just stay together. They play together and they help build each other up. The group cohesion on this group is just bar none. They’re just a great group of girls and they heave each others’ backs. Going into districts with that huge positive is what’s really going to help us.”

The Lady ‘Stangs have experience at every position and it shows on a daily basis. Aubrey Rebholz has been setting on varsity since her eighth grade year and led the Lady ‘Stangs to their last district and region championships in 2022, coming in for an injured Savannah Seiter. The 6-2 middle Callie Ritter has been a huge mismatch for many opponents along with the solid all-around sophomore Evelyn Laker and freshman Audrey Arnold. Leah Robinson, Hailey Heitker and Emma Sheanshang have given Bishop Brossart great balance with Grace Frommeyer and Josie Reckner leading Bishop Brossart on defense.

“All the seniors want it really bad so I think that really motivates us,” Ritter said. “I think everyone is very focused. We all want to win. We want to have a good record. We want this to be our best year, especially because the seniors have all played together since we were in the seventh grade.”

Campbell County (9-18) has had its struggles, but does have three more wins than last season. Chloe Hershey and Amerie Mullins lead the Camels along with Lydia Fry. Adalyn Bertsh and Kayden Kramer have been splitting the sets, but head coach Alicia Rice and staff have been working eighth grader Marissa Roellig into the setter role. Chloe Hardcorn and Kendyl Hartman have made some nice plays on defense.

The second game pits second-seeded Scott against Calvary Christian at 7:30 p.m. Scott (9-23) has struggled this year, but still managed to beat Calvary Christian, 3-1 on Sept. 29 to nab the second seed before besting Campbell County in district seed play a few days later.

Emory Sullivan has put together another sound season at libero for the Eagles. Jacinda Campbell and Kinley Dunford have led the way offensively with Arianna Graves and Makenna Conley picking things up this season. Shelby White and Cassidy Ennis have split the sets. Conley’s size could be a factor against Calvary Christian.

The Cougars (23-7) also have an electrifying libero in Madison Stelzer. Annabel Leach and Natalia McGlynn have split the sets with Megan Arthur leading the way offensively. Ava Dahler has also given Calvary Christian sound all-around play.

38th District at Pendleton County

Semifinals (Wed, Oct 21)
6:00 – Harrison County vs. Pendleton County
8:00 – Nicholas County vs. Robertson County

Championship (Thu, Oct 22)
6:00 – Semifinal Winners

Harrison County (19-11) is favored to make its way back to the top of this district after finishing runner-up the previous two seasons. Audree Whitaker and Maci Ware lead the Fillies.

They take on host Pendleton County on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Pendleton County (1-22) has struggled this season. Kylie Dunn is the kills leader for the Cats with Hadley Spaulding putting together a nice season as the libero. Alayna Gosney is a promising sophomore outside.

Nicholas County takes on Robertson County at 8 p.m. in the second game. The Jackets come in favored to make it back to the region tournament in the rebuilding year. Loralee Orazen and Danica Amburgey have led Nicholas County offensively with Allison Reid once again putting up nice sets. Abby McNabb, Brinlee Fryman, Ryan Jeter and Marlee Beaty have provided nice defensive numbers for Nicholas County.

Robertson County (3-18) has been led by Addisston Flack and Peyton Jolly this season. Two of their wins have come against Pendleton County.

39th District at Mason County

Semifinals (Tue, Oct 20)
6:00 – Augusta vs. Mason County
7:00 – Bracken County vs. St. Patrick

Championship (Thu, Oct 22)
7:00 – Semifinal Winners

This one could go a number of ways. Augusta and Bracken County both finished 5-1 in district seed play with Bracken County winning the tiebreaker for the top spot based on RPI. The two split district seed games on their home courts during the regular season with Bracken County winning the All “A” 10th Region Tournament battle.

Bracken County (22-13) has seen Isabella Godman and Sophia Bachman lead the way offensively with setter Rees Hargett putting together another nice season. Halle Routt and Kyndall Johnson have also given the Bears nice offensive options. Libero Aleigha Leist leads Bracken County defensively.

Augusta (19-11) has put together a sound season behind Aryanna Davis, Adalen Gilliam, Samantha Young and Claire Elliott with Kyleigh Kirk and Kahghan Hinson splitting the sets. Natalee Roberts and Carlee Courts have led the Panthers on defense.

The first game takes place Tuesday at 6 p.m. with Mason County hosting Augusta. The Royals have put together a nice season with setter Karsyn Dotson nearing 500 assists on the season. Emmy Henderson, Reagan Workman, Mylie Padgett and Darcy Fields have given the Royals a balanced attack. Raylee Dotson has led Mason County on defense with Kate Davenport, Hayley Allison and Aaliyah Burns making nice contributions there.

The second game sees Bracken County take on St. Patrick’s (13-17). The Saints have been led by Mia Neeley and Ella Neeley all season with Hope Comer setting up the offense. Jenna Cummins has made nice contributions on defense.

40th District at Bourbon County

Semifinals (Mon, Oct 19)
6:30 – George Rogers Clark vs. Bourbon County
8:00 – Montgomery County vs. Paris

Championship (Tue, Oct 20)
7:00 – Semifinal Winners

George Rogers Clark (18-7) may have gone 6-0 in district seed play, but the Cardinals know they can’t let their guards down. Setter Anna Cooper has been on target with powerful outsides Brooke Gough and Elayna Swart with Amy McCormick picking her game up in recent weeks. Addison Palmer and Eva Walker have been more than helpful with first touches.

The Montgomery County Indians (21-13) may have gone 3-3 in district seed play, but they are dangerous with their size with seven players standing 5-11 and taller. Erin Fawns, Ava Hudson, Anna Allison and Kinley Auxier have at least 115 kills on the season with Meredith Miles doing a nice job running the offense. Sophie Fouch provides the Indians nice first touches along with Hagan Stilz and Abby May. Opponents have been able to get Montgomery County out of system at times this season.

Paris (15-10) squares off against the Indians at 8 p.m. at Bourbon County in the semifinals Monday. Sisters Mia Mason and Molly Mason have led the Hounds all season. They’ll need a balanced attack with Gabrielle Gardner, Rose Hayden, Anaiya Hayden and Emmalyn Ogden to beat the Indians. Angie Romero and Emma Morris have given Paris sound play in the back row.

The first semifinal game Monday has Bourbon County (16-13) taking on George Rogers Clark at 6:30 p.m. Kinley Kearns has run a sound offense all season for the Colonels with Katie Abner, Hayli Burberry and Gia Griffin providing sound net play. Izzy Jett has provided sound first touches all season for Bourbon County with Claire Davis, Isabella Macias, Jaymeson Jones and Bentlee Durrum picking things up back there. The Colonels need to avoid sending over frequent free balls to pull of the win over GRC. That was a huge issue in the loss in Winchester.
