MAYSVILLE, Ky. — Jay Fite is retiring from coaching and stepping down as head girls basketball coach at Mason County, according to Travis Scaggs of WFTM.

Fite went 39-20 in two seasons at Mason County. The Lady Royals won a district championship this past season and advanced to the regional semifinals. Fite also recorded his 300th career win during the 2025-26 season.

Before coming to Mason County, Fite coached at Lewis County for 16 seasons and won 254 games. He led the Lady Lions to the program’s only three district championships, winning titles in 2012, 2014 and 2015. He was also named KABC 16th Region Coach of the Year in 2017 and 2023.

Fite also spent two seasons as the head boys coach at Bracken County during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. His 2007 team finished as the 10th Region All “A” Classic runner-up.
