PARIS, KY — The Bourbon County boys basketball team will have a familiar face leading them on the sidelines in the 2022-23 season. Ivan Rice announced on Twitter that Derek Robinson will be the new coach of the Colonels after coaching the Lady Colonels last year.

Robinson is a 1998 graduate of Bourbon County. He played his junior and senior years under coach Tony Sosby. In his junior year, the Colonels were 19-12 and went 7-11 his senior year, winning a district championship both years.

He went on to play basketball at Western Kentucky University and played for 7 years professionally. He scored 1,000 points for the Hilltoppers and was named SunBelt Conference Freshman of the year. In 2002, he was named to the All-Sunbelt Conference Team.

He has spent time as an assistant coach at Bourbon County, Paris, Bryan Station, and Fredrick Douglass. Most recently, he was the head coach of the Lady Colonels who had a record of 5-24 in a tough 40th District.

Robinson replaces former head coach Campbell, who resigned last month.
