North Oldham 62, Butler 56

North Oldham broke open a close game with a decisive third quarter and then held off Butler late in the fourth. Butler led 30-27 at halftime, but North Oldham outscored Butler 18-14 in the third and 21-15 in the fourth to flip the game. The swing came after halftime, when North Oldham turned a three-point deficit into a 45-44 lead entering the final period and then stayed in front the rest of the way.

The statistical difference was North Oldham’s efficiency inside the arc and its ability to create extra opportunities. North Oldham finished 24 of 47 from the field, compared with Butler’s 22 of 47, and made 9 of 17 free throws while Butler went 8 of 20 at the line. North Oldham also held a 22-15 rebounding edge, including an 11-6 advantage on the offensive glass, which helped offset Butler’s stronger 3-point shooting.

Pierre Rondo, son of Rajon Rondo, led North Oldham with 22 points, while Colin Shearer added 14 and Thomas Gregg scored 13. Those three combined for 49 of North Oldham’s 62 points. Butler was led by Brandon Heath’s 24 points, and Santana Anderson added 12.
