Jylin Edmondson, a 5-foot-11 eighth-grader, has played in 18 games for Boyd County this season and was averaging 14.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. She has transferred to Clark County.
Her eligibility is yet to be determined but she is expected to be eligible. Midseason transfers are not typically eligible immediately by the KHSAA, but Edmondson’s case is different because she is an eighth-grader. KHSAA Bylaw 6 says, “any student who has been enrolled in grades nine (9) through twelve (12)” when outlining the usual one-year ineligibility window following a transfer after varsity participation.
This move makes it her third school in less than two years. Edmondson attended Franklin County during her seventh-grade year (2024-25) and started for the Lady Flyers on a 26-6 team that won the 2A Kentucky Championship.
George Rogers Clark is ranked No. 2 in the state in the latest media poll. The Lady Cards are chasing the Sweet 16 title that they failed to claim last year in their loss to Sacred Heart in the finals.
Boyd County received votes for the Top 16 but was not ranked, and the Lady Lions are currently viewed as the second-best team in the 16th Region behind Ashland, which is ranked No. 11 statewide.
Edmondson’s final game for Boyd County came on Monday, February 2, against Ashland. Boyd County is 11-8 this season and has dropped both meetings with Ashland.
George Rogers Clark’s next game is Wednesday vs. Paul Laurence Dunbar.
