LEXINGTON, Ky. — Boyd County and Trinity will meet for the 2026 KHSAA Baseball State Tournament title on Saturday afternoon at Kentucky Proud Park. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
Boyd County 6, McCracken County 2
McCracken County’s season ended at 33-9. McCracken County High School opened in 2013, and since then, have won every 1st Region championship (12 straight).
Boyd County did all of its scoring in the second inning. Brody Biggs doubled and scored on Jace Manning’s infield single, and Josh Kelley came home when Cameron May was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Grant Slater followed with a two-run double down the right-field line, Cole Adams added an RBI single, and Kelley drew a bases-loaded walk.
McCracken County answered in the bottom of the second when Lane Grace tripled and scored on Briar Hall’s sacrifice fly. The Mustangs added another run in the fourth after Gage Dugan singled, stole second and scored on Caden Kern’s double down the left-field line.
Slater led Boyd County at the plate and on the mound, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs while allowing two runs over five innings with six strikeouts. Jake Dixon threw two scoreless innings in relief. Biggs went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Kern led McCracken County, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, while William Fox struck out 12 in six scoreless innings of relief.
Boyd County improves to 29-7.
Boyd County advances to the state championship game for the fourth time in school history, where they won the title in 2001. They made their other trips to the title game in 1988 and 1998. Trinity returns to the championship game one year after winning the 2021 and 2025 state titles. The Shamrocks will try to become the first back-to-back state champion since Harrison County in 1997-98.

Trinity 6, Apollo 4
Trinity scored three runs in the first inning and added three more in the fourth to build its lead. Max Phillips opened the game with a single and scored on Grayson Willoughby’s double down the left-field line. Nolan Hosking scored on Cade Partin’s sacrifice fly, and Willoughby also came home on an Apollo error.
Trinity added to the lead in the fourth after Harper Haywood singled and Easton Cline came on to run. Wyatt Graeter moved him over with a sacrifice bunt before Phillips delivered an RBI single. Grayson Davis followed with an RBI single, and Willoughby added his second RBI double of the game.
Apollo scored twice in the fifth on John Milburn’s two-run double and added two more in the seventh on Ty Lillpop’s two-run double. Willoughby led Trinity by going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, while Phillips went 2-for-2 with two runs, an RBI, a walk and a stolen base. Konnor Stargel earned the win, striking out eight over 6 1/3 innings. Milburn and Lillpop each drove in two runs for Apollo.
Apollo’s season ends at 23-13, and Trinity improves to 40-3.
