The 2025 10th Region Boys Basketball Tournament continued Monday night in Mt. Sterling with the semifinals. On Wednesday night at 7:30, Montgomery County will play George Rogers Clark for the title.

This highly anticipated rematch was much different than the 40-point Montgomery County win margin.  While Mason County led by two at the half, the Indians would outscore them 31-13 in the third quarter.  

Montgomery County led 19-18 after one quarter after a back-and-forth first eight minutes.

Brian Kirk called a timeout after back-to-back scores on Cayden Reed’s assists to Andrew Terry.  This gave the Indians a 25-23 lead with 4:15 until halftime.  Mason County would use a timeout when they were down 31-27 with 2:06 until halftime.

A three-point play from Cole Horch and a four-point play from Braeden Myrick would give Mason County a 34-33 lead with a minute and a half until halftime.  

The Royals led the Indians 39-37 at halftime after seven ties and six lead changes, and no team leading by more than four points. 

Cayden Reed’s three-point play with 5:30 in the third gave the Indians their largest lead of the night, 49-45.  This would start a 15-2 run for MoCo.

Montgomery County led 68-52 after three quarters. Mason County outscored Montgomery 21-18 in the fourth, but the Indians ended with an 86-73 win. 

Cayden Reed led Montgomery with 32 points, going 12/24 from the floor, with 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Garryon McClain led Mason with 27 points, going 11/21 from the floor.  Braeden Myrick had 26 points, going 5/8 from three.  Cole Horch had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Mason County shot 65.2% (15/23) in the first half and 44% (11/25) in the second half.  Neither team had a bench player score. 

Montgomery County improves to 21-10.  Mason County’s season ends at 17-14.
