MT. OLIVET, Ky. — Robertson County School announced Alex Schalch as the new head boys basketball coach on Monday morning. Schalch played four seasons at Robertson County, his eighth-grade through junior year, before transferring to Mason County for his senior year, where he graduated in 2020.

Schlach scored over 1,500 points as a Black Devil before heading to Mason County, where he averaged 18 points and eight rebounds per game as a senior. He helped Robertson County to their first All “A” Classic regional title in 2018.

Schalch replaces Brandon Hinson after three seasons.

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you! Robertson County School has officially named Alex Schalch as the new head coach of our Boys Basketball program. This marks a significant moment for our school, as we warmly welcome Coach Schalch back to the RCS basketball family.

Coach Schalch is no stranger to success. He was an outstanding player for the Black Devils during a remarkable era in our school’s history, contributing to our very first All A regional championship in 2018. His experience on the court, coupled with his deep commitment to the sport, makes him the ideal leader for our young athletes.

Dr. Holbrook, Superintendent said, “We are thrilled to welcome Coach Schalch to our athletic program. His passion for the game and commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court makes him an excellent fit for our program.”

As we move forward, we are excited about the energy, leadership, and dedication Coach Schalch will bring to the team.

We are thrilled to announce the beginning of a new era for the RCS Black Devils basketball program! Following his recent appointment as the head boys basketball coach, Coach Schalch has made a game-changing move by hiring Mason Burden as the head assistant coach.

Mason, a standout player and one of our program’s all-time leading scorers, brings an incredible wealth of experience to the bench. As a proud member of the 2018 All-A Regional Championship team, he embodies the spirit and dedication that is at the core of Black Devils basketball.

Dr. Holbrook recently expressed his enthusiasm about this dynamic partnership, stating, “I think this is a new era for RCS Black Devils basketball. Coach Burden is one of the most storied players in our school history. Coach Schalch and Coach Burden will bring the energy and excitement into the program.”
