BROOKSVILLE, Ky — George Rogers Clark rallied from a late two-run deficit on Saturday at Bracken County in the 10th Region Softball Championship, scoring twice in the sixth inning before their walk-off against Harrison County 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh after an error. It was their second walk-off in the tournament. The first was in the quarterfinals against Pendleton County.

The Cardinals trailed 3-1 entering the sixth before Zyniia Tichenor doubled to center and Jillian Franco followed with a two-run home run to center field to tie the game. In the seventh, Lila Fugate reached on an error, Bella Guinn singled, and Addison Mathews loaded the bases with a bunt single before Tichenor delivered the winning grounder that was bobbled, which scored Fugate with no throw home.
George Rogers Clark struck first in the bottom of the first when Mathews singled, stole second and scored on Tichenor’s single to right field. Harrison County answered in the fourth when Emma Hamm singled and Aleigha Newby homered to center field, giving the Fillies a 2-1 lead. Harrison County added another run in the fifth when Jenny White singled, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on Karsyn Bennett’s fielder’s choice.

Tichenor led the Cardinals at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Franco added a two-run homer, while Mathews had two hits and scored a run. Guinn, Jayda Grigsby and Jordyn Abner also had hits for George Rogers Clark.
Lilli Hill earned the win in the circle, allowing three runs on eight hits over seven innings. She struck out seven and did not issue a walk.
Newby led Harrison County with a two-run home run, while White went 2-for-3 and scored a run. Bennett drove in one run, and Hamm, Isabella Persinger, Rhylie Walls and Kira Persinger each added a hit.
Shyanne Ross took the loss in relief for Harrison County, allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits over 4.1 innings. She struck out seven and walked one. Isabella Persinger started and allowed one run on three hits over two innings, striking out four.

George Rogers Clark will play Ashland on Friday at 8:00 p.m. at the University of Kentucky’s John Cropp Stadium for the first round of the softball state tournament.
