Compared to last year, the only new district champion in the 37th, 39th or 40th District is George Rogers Clark, who missed out on the region tournament altogether last year.
37th District: Scott 3, Calvary Christian 0 (25-18, 25-7, 25-20)
The Eagles won their third in a row behind another epic performance from two-time 10th Region Player of the Year Milyn Minor. She pounded out 17 kills with Morgan Justice recording nine. Setter Ryann Grigsby had 34 assists and sophomore Emory Sullivan had 10 digs. Senior Morgan Justice blocked two balls.
“I saw that the block was going toward Milyn more so I knew what I had to do to mix it up and get out hitters away from the block,” Ryann Grigsby said. “We just came out and did what we do.”
Scott (26-11 overall) kept Calvary Christian out of rhythm. Triplets Payton Grigsby and KaLeigh Grigsby had three aces each with Ryann Grigsby and Minor recording two each.
“I think a big thing is these seniors,” Scott head coach Andrea Sullivan said. “They mean a lot to me. They mean a lot to the school. I’ve known most of them since they’ve been in second, third grade. To watch them grow up, to watch them succeed and win their last district championship is just really special. I’m happy for them. They worked hard for it.”
Calvary (23-7) made it to the 10th Region Tournament for the first time in program history with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-13) victory over Bishop Brossart. Anna Hickey led the way with 17 kills in that game.
“It’s a really big encouragement,” Hickey said. “This team’s amazing and just to see the talent that we have, it’s a big accomplishment and especially for the senior season, it’s been great because it’s my last season with them. Our coach (Becky Stelzer) has put so much time and effort into the team and the school in general because she’s a teacher.”
Calvary Christian had 59 digs as a team in that game. Hickey and Stelzer had 15 digs each with Natalia McGlynn digging up 10 balls. McGlynn and freshman setter Annabel Leach had 14 and 11 assists, respectively.
“The girls hustle. They’re teammates through and through so they work well together, and they fight for each other,” Coach Stelzer said. “When you know they’re going to back each other up that way, it definitely helps because you’re willing to put it on the floor. It definitely helped against some scrappy teams themselves.”
Calvary Christian takes on Nicholas County at 6 p.m. Monday in the 10th Region Quarterfinals. Scott battles Harrison County at the same location 24 hours later.
39th District: Bracken County 3, Mason County 0 (25-10, 25-12, 25-16)

Mason County (22-12) also set a school record for wins making it back to the region tournament for the first time since 2019. In the loss, senior libero Halle Pfeffer had 16 digs.
Mason County takes on the host Cardinals in the 10th Region quarterfinals on Monday at 7:15 p.m. Bracken County faces Montgomery County at the same time Tuesday.
40th District: George Rogers Clark 3, Montgomery County 0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-16)

Montgomery County (15-16) struggled down the stretch losing six-of-eight games including twice to GRC. Those losses include Great Crossing, Scott and Lexington Catholic.
