MT. STERLING — On Monday night, Montgomery County had an atypical win over Powell County. With one minute left until halftime, Powell County coaches and players walked off the court and headed to the locker room to gather their belongings before getting on the bus and heading home.

With 6:50 left in the second quarter, an altercation broke out, leading to players shoving each other. The players on the Powell County bench entered the playing floor. By rule, those who left the bench were disqualified from the contest. Montgomery County had one player disqualified who was involved in the altercation. Powell County had just six players left in the game after the disqualifications.

With one minute until halftime, a loose ball after a free throw led to another technical foul. Then, Powell County coaches decided to walk off the floor, ending the game. The score at the time was 46-23.
