Montgomery County and Pendleton County have new districtwide athletic directors for the 2026-27 school year.

From Montgomery County Schools on the hiring of Dustin High on June 5:

Dustin High brings a deep personal connection, unwavering community pride, and extensive professional experience to his new role as Director of Athletics. A dedicated educator at heart, he has served Montgomery County High School as a teacher since 2012, after earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Morehead State University. Throughout his career, Mr. High has built a distinguished athletic track record, mentoring young athletes and coaching both boys’ and girls’ basketball programs across multiple levels at Menifee County, McNabb Middle School, and Montgomery County High School.

In his new role, he will leverage his leadership to elevate district athletic programs, champion student-athletes, coaches, and families, and foster a culture of excellence.

“I am honored to be the Director of Athletics for Montgomery County. As a long-time resident and father of three boys who will participate in many of our athletic programs, I want to do everything I can to help our athletic department continue to succeed and remain competitive across the state. I look forward to working alongside our community and school district to support student-athletes, coaches, and families.”

Pendleton County Schools named Dr. Ben Adams as their new athletic director on May 11:

Adams was the district athletic director at Newport Independent Schools and served in the same role at Dayton Independent Schools in 2024-25. Adams has worked in various athletic roles at the college and high school levels since 2014. He has a master’s degree in sports administration from Western Kentucky University and a doctorate in educational leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University.
