Mason wins battle over Campbell in semis

The Royals defeated the Camels in the semifinals of the 10th Region Tournament on Monday night.  The Royals went on an 11-2 run in the 2nd quarter, outscoring them 21-12 in the frame. The Camels stared off the third on an 10-2 run, but the Royals quickly responded. It will be Mason County’s first trip to the region finals since 2016.

HISTORY:

Mason County defeated Campbell County 77-73 on January 10th thanks to a 11-2 run in the second quarter. Mason outscored Campbell 21-12 in the second frame.

Terrell Henry (M) scored 27 points at 9/13 from the floor and 9/10 from the line.
KG Walton (M) scored 25 points going 6/9 from the floor and 13/17 from the line. He also drew 10 fouls.
Riley Mastin (M) only had two points, but had 10 rebounds.
Aydan Hamilton (C) had 24 points.
Jake Gross (C) had 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Connor Weinel (C) had 12 points.

NEXT UP:

Campbell County’s season ends at 22-11.  They lose three seniors: Aydan Hamilton, Jake Gross, and Keegan Hill. Aydan Hamilton and Jake Gross were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Mason County moves to 29-5.  They will play the winner of George Rogers Clark and Harrison County on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the 10th Region Championship.
