MAYSVILLE, Ky. — Mason County has named 2011 graduate Jordan Gilbert as the next coach of the Royals.

A former point guard at Mason County, Gilbert helped lead the Royals to the state semifinals in 2010 before continuing his playing career at Transylvania and Asbury.

Gilbert spent this past season as head coach at Nelson County, where he guided the team to a 19-10 record.

He previously was named head coach of the Mason County girls basketball program on May 6, 2022, but left less than two months later to become the head boys basketball coach at Green County on July 5, 2022.

During his three seasons at Green County from 2022-23 through 2024-25, Gilbert posted a combined 57-34 record. In 2025, Green County won the 18th District championship and reached the semifinals of the 5th Region Tournament.

Before becoming a head coach, Gilbert spent four years as an assistant boys basketball coach at Mason County. He also served as an assistant coach at Madison Central and Mercer County.
