The Mason County Athletic Department announced on Twitter/X that Joe Wynn has resigned as football and announced him as the new coach at Simon Kenton.

Per Travis Scaggs, Wynn coached the Royals the last four seasons (2021-2024) and complied a record of 36-14. The Royals made the region finals in 2021, won a region title in 2022 and reached the state semifinals before falling to Bardstown, finishing the season 13-1. Wynn was 4-1 vs. rival Fleming County in his tenure.

The Royals were 8-4 this past season. For 2025 and 2026, Mason County will be in a new district with Highlands, Covington Catholic, and Harrison County.

Simon Kenton was 4-7 this past season.

Assistant coach Bradley Boone will in charge of the program until a new coach can be named.
