LEXINGTON, Ky. — George Rogers Clark is one of the four remaining teams in Kentucky high school softball. They will now play Bullitt East on Friday, June 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the semifinals of the KHSAA Softball State Tournament presented by UK HealthCare.
The Lady Cardinals scored in three straight innings and held off a late Ashland Blazer rally for a 6-3 win Friday in the first round. They then defeated Henderson County 2-1 in the quarterfinals on Saturday night.

The Cardinals broke through in the third when Arabella Guinn hit a solo home run to left and Addison Matthews later scored on Zyniia Tichenor’s triple. GRC added three runs in the fourth, getting an RBI single from Jordyn Abner, an RBI single from Guinn and a sacrifice fly from Lilliana Hill to build a 5-0 lead. Jayda Grigsby added an RBI single in the fifth after Jillian Franco doubled.
Ashland scored all three of its runs in the seventh on Jenna Delaney’s three-run home run, but GRC pitch Lilliana Hill finished the complete-game win. She allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out 12. Guinn went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs, Matthews had three hits, and Grigsby added two doubles and an RBI.

The Cardinals took the lead in the first when Arabella Guinn reached on an error, moved to third on Addison Matthews’ sacrifice bunt and scored on Lilliana Hill’s double to left. Henderson County tied it in the second when Pacey Parker, running for Kamryn Timmons, scored from first on Lillian Bennett’s double to left-center.
GRC went back in front in the fifth. Guinn doubled to right-center, Matthews singled and Hill reached on a fielder’s choice to score Guinn with the go-ahead run. Hill also earned the win in the circle, allowing one run on three hits while striking out five and walking one. Guinn scored both GRC runs, and Hill drove in both.
