The district races turned clearer during the week. There will be some tight ones between now and the postseason. Some teams swapped places, but not a lot changed from last week.
1. Bishop Brossart (13-0)
The ‘Stangs won all four games last week to stay undefeated and retain the region’s top spot. That includes capturing yet another 10th Region All “A” championship. That marked an eighth straight All “A” region championship. The ‘Stangs also beat Campbell County to move to 2-0 in district seed play.
Callie Ritter and Evelyn Laker continue to lead the ‘Stangs in hitting with Hailey Heitker, Leah Robinson and Emma Sheanshang giving Bishop Brossart balance. Senior setter Aubrey Rebholz continues to spread out the offense with libero Grace Frommeyer, Josie Reckner and Audrey Arnold starting things on defense.
Bishop Brossart travels to Harrison County on Tuesday for a 7:15 p.m. game.
2. George Rogers Clark (8-3)
The Cardinals went 1-1 last week in two home games with a loss to Lexington Catholic then a rebound to sweep the season series with Bourbon County to move to 3-0 in district play.
The dynamic duo of Elayna Swart and Brooke Gough continue to lead the Cardinals offensively with setter Anna Cooper running a great offense. Libera Addison Palmer sets the tone on defense and serving and Eva Walker also contributes defensively. Amy McCormick has provided some nice defense for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals have a tough battle Tuesday at Trinity Christian at 7:15 p.m.
3. Montgomery County (9-5)
The Indians won their lone game at Raceland on Thursday. Sophie Fouch and Abby May lead the way on defense with Meredith Miles setting up the seven 5-11 and taller hitters. Ava Hudson, Erin Fawns, Kinley Auxier and Anna Allison lead the Indians offensively.
Montgomery County hosts Lexington Christian on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
4. Paris (6-2)
The Hounds bested Bourbon County in a 40th District seed game on Thursday before losing to Bishop Brossart in the All “A” 10th Region semifinals to finish the week 2-1.
Mia Mason and Molly Mason continue to set and take swings offensively with Emmalyn Ogden, Gabrielle Gardner and Rose Hayden also taking nice swings. Angie Romero leads the way on defense.
Paris hosts Pendleton County on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
5. Calvary Christian (11-4)
The Cougars lost to the improved Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds on Tuesday then beat Williamstown on the road.
Madison Stelzer sets things up as the libero with Ava Dahler providing sound all-around play. Natalia McGlynn and Annabel Leach do the setting with Megan Arthur recording more than 100 kills on the season.
Calvary Christian travels to Dayton on Thursday for a 7 p.m. game.
6. Campbell County (3-9)
The Camels are close to turning some corners. They dropped a tight 3-2 battle against Walton-Verona on Wednesday.
In the loss to the Bearcats, Lydia Fry and Amerie Mullins had 11 and nine kills, respectively with Chloe Hershey tallying seven to go with 21 digs and two solo blocks. Kayden Kramer and Adalyn Bertsch had 13 and 11 assists, respectively and Mullins had four aces. Bertch and Mullins had 11 digs each and Chloe Hardcorn had 10.
Campbell County hosts Bracken County on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
7. Scott (3-11)
The Eagles may be struggling, but they did break a nine-game losing streak with a home win over Bracken County on Thursday.
In that 3-0 win, Jacinda Campbell had 14 kills with Makenna Conley and Kinley Dunford recording six kills each. Shelby White and Cassidy Ennis had 15 assists each with Emory Sullivan tallying 16 digs and five aces. Campbell and Dunford had 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
Scott hosts Ryle on Tuesday in a 7 p.m. game.
8. Bracken County (9-6)
The Bears struggled last week going 1-4 with the lone win coming against Augusta in the All “A” 10th Region semifinals at Calvary Christian on Saturday.
Rees Hargett continues to lead the Bears setting the ball with Isabella Godman and Sophia Bachman leading on offense. Aleigha Leist and Kyndall Johnson continue to lead Bracken County on defense.
Bracken County travels to Campbell County on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
9. Bourbon County (10-5)
The Colonels dropped to 0-3 in district seed play with losses to George Rogers Clark and Paris last week.
Senior libero Izzy Jett continues to give a good effort on defense with Kinley Kearns showing great poise running the offense. Katie Abner, Gia Griffin and Hayli Burberry give the Colonels balance. Isabella Macias is putting up nice numbers on defense.
Bourbon County travels to Sayre on Monday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
10. Harrison County (7-4)
The Fillies went 1-1 last week beating Pendleton County, but dropping a non-region game against Newport Central Catholic.
They travel to Williamstown on Monday for a 7 p.m. game.
11. Augusta (10-4)
The Panthers put together a nice 3-1 week that included a district win over Bracken County, before losing to the Bears in the All “A” 10th Region semifinals.
Against Bracken on Saturday, Kahghan Hinson led the way with eight digs and 12 assists. Kyleigh Kirk also had 12 assists with Claire Elliott and Aryanna Davis recording eight kills each.
Augusta travels to Mason County on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
12. Mason County (7-7)
The Royals bested Nicholas County and St. Patrick’s last week to even their record.
Karsyn Dotson runs an efficient offense with Darcy Fields, Emmy Henderson and Reagan Workman leading the Royals in kills. Dotson, Workman and Kate Davenport lead Mason County in digs.
Mason County hosts Augusta on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
13. Nicholas County (2-7)
The Jackets lost both games to Paris and Mason County last week.
Allison Reid continues to set things up for dynamic hitter Loralee Orazan. Orazan and Abby McNabb lead Nicholas County on defense.
Nicholas County hosts Robertson County on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
14. Robertson County (2-8)
The Devils earned their second win of the season Thursday at Bath County.
In that win, Addisston Flack had eight kills and Peyton Jolly had seven assists. Adyson Linville had three aces and Allie Myers recorded two.
Robertson County travels to Fleming County on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
15. Pendleton County (1-7)
The Cats dropped both games last week. In the loss at Augusta, Kylie Dunn had six kills and Hadley Spaulding recorded nine digs. Elizabeth Ammerman and Allieona Sweigart recorded five digs each.
Pendleton County travels to Paris on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game.
16. St. Patrick (4-10)
The Saints split their games last week. In the win over Bath County, Ella Neeley had five kills and six aces. Mia Neeley added six aces.
St. Patrick’s travels to Newport on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game.
