Bracken County announced the hiring of Darrin Sutton as the next baseball coach on Tuesday.

Sutton has been an assistant coach for the Polar Bears since 2019 alongside former head coach Rob Krift, who resigned two weeks ago. He was the head coach at Robertson County from 2015 to 2019 and the middle school coach there from 2013 to 2015.

His son, Caleb Sutton, will be a senior on the team next season. He played only two games in 2024 and missed the rest of the season with an injury.

Darrin Sutton told 10thRegion.com:

“I appreciate athletic director Mr. Smith and Bracken County for this opportunity. I have been with most of these kids for five to six years, so hopefully it will be a seamless transition. I also want to thank Coach Krift for all of the effort, time, and hard work he’s put in over the last five years in laying this foundation. We are also keeping together what I feel is one of the better coaching staffs around, with Coach Combess, Steinhauer, and Sutton, who have contributed so much.”

The Polar Bears were 3-17 this past season after losing most of their starters off the 2024 district champion and All “A” Classic championship team.
