The Scott Eagles came into the season as favorites to repeat as 10th Region champions and that has not changed.

Scott (26-11 overall) has two-time 10th Region Player of the Year senior outside hitter Milyn Minor on the team and it is questionable if anyone in the region can block her dynamic hitting. She’s tough on go routes.

Senior Ryann Grigsby has set Minor for three seasons now in addition to Morgan Justice. Triple Payton Grigsby is a sound hitter and passer for the Eagles with KaLeigh Grigsby providing sound defense. Jacinda Campbell and Reagan Cummins give the Eagles balance with libero Emory Sullivan leading the Eagles on defense.

Scott takes on Harrison County at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Fillies (18-13) enter the tournament as district runner-up for the second straight year after winning the 40th District crown the previous 12 seasons.

Twin sisters Lexie Highlander at setter and Lauren Highlander at libero lead the Fillies. Aubree Whitaker and Shyanne Ross lead Harrison County offensively. Mae Heimlich has also emerged as an offensive threat for the Fillies and Karsyn Bennett has emerged on defense.

Three-time defending 39th District champion Bracken County takes on Montgomery County at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Bracken County (26-7) has once again broke the school record for wins in a season. Setters Rees Hargett and Baylee Wilson have put balls on target to Macy Lucas, Jordan Ahrens, Isabella Godman and Sophia Bachman all season. Makenzie Rudd, Ashley Stafford and Kyndall Johnson lead the Bears on defense.

Montgomery County (15-16) has struggled at the end of the season losing 7-of-10 entering the tournament. Alexis White and Avery Lewis give the Indians sound all-around play with Erin Fawns and Janelle Miller recording three-figures in kills. Sophie Fouch is the libero and Kate Conn sets up the Montgomery County offense. Hagan Stiltz has also given the Indians good defense.

The first game Monday at 6 p.m. features first-time 38th District champion Nicholas County (18-5) against first-time region tournament participant Calvary Christian (23-7). The net battle between Nicholas County Morgan Broderick and Calvary senior Anna Hickey could be a good one.

Kylie Earlywine and Loralee Orazan give the Jackets balance with Mackenzie Davenport and Ali Reid setting them up. Sadie Vice is the libero with Danica Amburey also making some big contributions throughout the season.

Megan Arthur is also a formidable hitter for the Cougars. Natalia McGlynn and Annabel Leach are the setters. Madison Stelzer is the libero with Ava Dahler adding to the defensive effort for the Cougars.

The other game Monday at 7:15 p.m. features host George Rogers Clark taking on Mason County. GRC (20-9) has one of the region’s toughest hitters in senior Teigh Yeast. Brooke Gough, Hollins Pumphrey and Serenity Elman give the Cardinals balance for Anna Cooper to set. Addison Palmer and Kinlee Keltner provide sound defense for GRC.

Mason County (22-12) set a school record for wins in a season with libero Halle Pfeffer and setter Kyleigh Kirk leading the way. Hayley Allison, Kennedy Bevins and Annie Corlis provide sound defense for the Royals. Makaylynn Crabtree, Reagan Workman, Emmy Henderson and Mylie Padgett are offensive options for Kirk.

The semifinals take place at GRC on Wednesday at 6 and 7:15 p.m. with the championship Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
