Troy Archibald coaching in the regional semifinals vs. Bishop Brossart

Troy Archibald resigned as the Bracken County girls’ basketball coach, and the position was posted on the school’s website on Thursday morning. Archibald said he had intended to return but faced pressure to resign.

Archibald was hired as the girls basketball coach for the 2021-2022 season, replacing Taylor Alstatt, who coached two seasons from 2019-20 to 2020-21 with a record of 8-47.

Archibald coached the Lady Bears for four seasons with a record of 61-47. His teams won three straight district championships in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

This past season’s team won 23 games, tying for the school record for most wins since the 1991-92 season. They also made it to the regional semifinals for the first time since 2012.
