The inaugural Mr. Basketball Classic tips off on Saturday, Dec. 6th at George Rogers Clark and features several highly ranked teams in Kentucky. The idea behind the Mr. Basketball Classic is to showcase teams that have a potential Mr. Basketball winner. The event originally featured Lyon County, who was replaced by Henry Clay.

7:00 – Daviess County vs. George Rogers Clark
Trinity: The Shamrocks were 17-15 last year and lost to St. Xavier 59-44 in the 7th Region Championship. Senior Jayden Johnson put up 14.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game as a junior last season.
Henry Clay: The Blue Devils finished 20-8 last season and lost in the first round of the 42nd District Tournament to Bryan Station, 60-48. They return senior Jackson Stephan, who led the team, averaging 17.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Stephan is committed to the Air Force.
Green County: The Dragons were 24-4 last season under coach Jordan Gilbert, losing to North Hardin in overtime in the 5th Region semifinals. Eric James, Jr. was second in scoring with 16.4 ppg and has an offer from Lehigh.
Madison Central: Jake Feldhaus Feldhaus is the nephew of head coach Allen Feldhaus, Jr. and the son of Deron Feldhaus. Jake averaged 22 points and 11.3 rebounds per game last year.
Jeffersontown: The 2025 6th Region Champions defeated No. 1-ranked St. Xavier in the Sweet 16, with Dayvonne Harrison scoring 17 points and averaging nearly 17 points per game for the season.
Bryan Station: Amari Owens led the Defenders to a 25-7 record last season before losing to eventual state champions Great Crossing 59-56 in the 11th Region semifinals. Owens, a recent Eastern Kentucky commit, averaged 22.5 ppg and 4.2 rpg last year.
Daviess County: The Panthers lost to Great Crossing 69-37 in the opening round of the Sweet 16. Point guard Jonathan Moss led the team with 19.5 ppg. Moss is committed to Chattanooga. DeAaron Watkins followed with 15.9 ppg and led with 10.3 rpg. The 6-foot-8 Watkins is committed to McKendree.
George Rogers Clark: The Cardinals return most of last year’s regional finalist team. Leading the Cardinals is senior point guard Malachi Ashford, who led the team with 14.6 ppg. Ashford holds offers from Eastern Kentucky and East Tennessee State. Montez Gay put up 12.7 points and a team-leading 7.4 rebounds per game last season as a sophomore. He has offers from Akron and Morehead State. Ryder Akins transferred in from Corbin, where he led the team in scoring as a freshman with 18.6 ppg along with 7.1 rpg. Akins was recently offered by Providence out of the Big East. Amari Bartelson, a rim-protecting forward/center, averaged 7.7 ppg and 6 rpg as a junior.
