The leading scorer from Paris last season has transfered to George Rogers Clark. Malachi Ashford averaged 20.8 points per game last year for the Greyhounds as a freshman.

Ashford scored his 1,000th career point in last year’s 10th Region Tournament. He scored 55 points as a seventh-grader, 301 points as an eighth-grader and 645 points as a freshman.

Ashford was a key part in Paris’s run in the 10th Region All “A” Classic at Paris last season. He scored 26 points in their 65-62 win over Augusta, where he made 6/6 free throws in the final 30 seconds to seal the win. They Greyhounds then defeated defending champion Bracken County 73-68. The freshman scored 21 points and made 14/14 free throws (10/10 in the fourth quarter).

In their wins against Pineville and Lafayette, Ashford scored a career high 334 points.

East Tennessee State University recently gave Ashford his first Division I offer.
