Eddie Brooks has been named the next head baseball coach at George Rogers Clark.

Brooks graduated from Lafayette and played baseball at the University of Kentucky, where he led the Wildcats’ offense in 1993. He was drafted by the Pirates in 1994 and played in the minors for five seasons.

He has been the head coach at Frederick Douglass since 2018 when the school opened. Before that he coaches at Bryan Station from 2007 to 2017.

Lex18 News ran a story two years ago about Coach Brooks getting his bachelor’s degree 30 years later through the Cawood Ledford post-eligibility scholarship.

Brooks will take over for the Cardinals who were 22-12 last season and fell in the first round of the district tournament.
