The 2025 football season kicks off tonight across the Commonwealth with several 10th Region area schools competing against each other.

Mason County at Bracken County

The Royals head to Brooksville as these two face off for the first time in school history.  These two rivals have had many battles in the 39th District. Mason County has about double the enrollment of Bracken County. However, Bracken County returns what may be their best team in program history (since 2003) while Mason County lost 26 seniors off last year’s team, who had one of the best runs in their program history.

Scott at Campbell County

The 37th District rivals meet for the third straight year in a series Campbell County has dominated. The Camels won 63-27 last year and 56-6 the year before. Scott’s last win over Campbell County came in 2002. This will be their ninth meeting since 2000.

Nicholas County at Pendleton County

Another 10th Region district matchup comes from these 38th District foes. The Bluejackets put up a whopping 70 points in last year’s win over the Wildcats. These two have played almost annually since 2013. Pendleton County’s last win came in 2019. Jaeggar Graham and his Cats are trying to build a program that lost seven straight and won two games last year.

George Rogers Clark at Scott County

They played many times back when they were both in 6A.  Now, the battle of the Cardinals returns after a five-year hiatus. The Cardinals from Georgetown are 11-0 over the Cardinals from Winchester since 2010. Scott County won the last meeting in 2020, 42-14.

Paris at Frankfort

The Greyhounds’ new quarterback, Guy Turner, was ruled eligible this week. He was the backup quarterback for Boyle County last year. It’s also the debut for new head coach Dane Damron. These two have met 17 times since 1998.  Paris has won the last four meetings, including a 35-21 win in the first round of the 1A playoffs last season.

Bishop Brossart at Walton-Verona

The Mustangs won this one 31-6 last year. It’ll be up to Kozerski and Co. to regroup and reload this season. Quarterback Tyler Holtz graduated after tossing 1,597 yards and 25 touchdowns. Leading rusher Cameron Mandel also graduated following a season with 1,241 yards and 17 scores.

West Jessamine at Bourbon County

Bourbon County is under a new head coach, Tyquan Rice, who came from Paris with several players. This game is part of the Mingua Beef Jerky Bourbon Bowl.

Harrison County at Henry County

The Thorobreds are looking to bounce back from a 2-9 season.
