Press Release:

Paris High School is proud to announce the hiring of Dane Damron as its new head football coach. Coach Damron brings a wealth of experience to the program, having started his career as a Graduate Assistant under the legendary Coach Roy Kidd. He went on to spend 10 years as a college head coach and seven years as an assistant coach at Eastern Kentucky University, including five years as the Offensive Coordinator. In addition, he previously served as the head coach at Boyd County High School.

Paris High School Principal Robert McCann expressed his enthusiasm for the hire, stating, “From the moment we began our search, it was clear that Coach Damron’s leadership, experience, and passion for student-athlete development made him the perfect fit for our program. His commitment to excellence on and off the field will be invaluable to our students, and I can’t wait to see the impact he will have on our football program and our school community.”

Paris High School Athletic Director Cary Barr highlighted the significance of bringing in a coach of Damron’s caliber, saying, “Coach Damron’s experience is truly impressive. Having served as a head coach at the college level and worked under one of the most respected coaches in the game, he brings a level of knowledge and leadership that will elevate our program. We are beyond excited to welcome him to Paris and can’t wait to see the energy and vision he brings to our football team.”

Superintendent Stephen McCauley echoed these sentiments, adding, “I tasked Principal McCann with making a home run hire, and that is exactly what he did. Coach Damron’s extensive experience at the collegiate level will be a tremendous asset to our student-athletes, particularly those looking to play at the next level. More importantly, his focus on developing young men of character is what truly sets him apart. Today is a great day to be a Greyhound!”

Coach Damron shared his excitement about joining the Greyhound family, stating, “I am honored to be named the head football coach at Paris High School. This program has a rich tradition, and I look forward to building on that legacy. My goal is to develop a culture of hard work, accountability, and perseverance—both on and off the field. I can’t wait to get started and work with our student-athletes to achieve great things together.”

Coach Damron holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and a graduate degree in Sports Administration. He and his wife, Delisha, reside in Georgetown and have two children, Hanna and Derek.

Paris High School and the Paris Greyhound Football Foundation are partnering to host a meet and greet for Coach Damron at the Barr House on Monday, February 17th, from 5:00-7:00. We invite the community to come and meet Coach Damron at this event.
