George Rogers Clark and Montgomery County hit the road Tuesday for early 6 p.m. tips to stay ahead of the incoming weather. George Rogers Clark fell at Lexington Catholic 70-64, and Montgomery County dropped a 74-69 game at Madison Central.
Lexington Catholic 70, George Rogers Clark 64
Lexington Catholic won a back-and-forth game in Lexington that featured 17 lead changes and 10 ties. George Rogers Clark entered ranked No. 5 in the state, while Lexington Catholic was just outside the top 16.
GRC led 19-16 after the first quarter on a 3-pointer by Malachi Ashford. Amari Bartleson’s two free throws late in the second quarter tied the game at 35-all at halftime. The Cardinals took a 53-50 lead into the fourth.
Everett Stuart’s triple two minutes into the final quarter put the Knights in front for good. Lexington Catholic outscored GRC 20-11 in the fourth. Over the final eight minutes, the Knights went 4-for-7 from the field and 9-for-10 at the foul line.

Hank Woodall led Lexington Catholic with 18 points and five rebounds. Stuart and Max Meagher added 13 points apiece, and Meagher also had six assists.
Ashford led GRC with 22 points, and Montez Gay added 14. Ryder Akins finished with six points and nine rebounds.

Lexington Catholic went 7-for-17 from 3-point range, while GRC was 10-for-28. The Cardinals committed 14 turnovers, and the Knights scored 28 points off those miscues. GRC held a 27-23 rebounding edge.
Lexington Catholic improved to 14-5. George Rogers Clark fell to 16-4.
Madison Central 74, Montgomery County 69
Montgomery County traveled to Richmond to face Madison Central in another early Tuesday matchup. Madison Central led 22-18 after the first quarter and 35-34 at halftime. Montgomery County carried a 51-50 lead into the fourth, but Madison Central pulled away late.
Sophomore point guard Austin Sears paced Montgomery County with 25 points. In his first three games since becoming eligible, Sears has faced a gauntlet of George Rogers Clark, Ashland, and Madison Central.
Sears went 9-for-22 from the field and 3-for-9 from 3-point range, adding six rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Andrew Terry had 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Tyce Jarvis scored seven points before fouling out.
Montgomery County shot 25-for-60 (42%) overall and 13-for-31 (42%) from beyond the arc.
Madison Central controlled the glass 39-26, with one-third of its rebounds coming on the offensive end. Jake Feldhaus, a 6-foot-8 forward, grabbed 20 rebounds (seven offensive) and scored 15 points. Grayson Burton led Madison Central with 25 points, going 5-for-11 from 3-point range, and Luke Asher added 19.
Madison Central improved to 21-1. Montgomery County dropped to 10-10 and will host Nicholas County on Friday.
