The 10th Region Boys Basketball Coaches Association announced the Hall of Fame Class of 2026 selections.
Inductees and the All-Region teams will be recognized at a banquet on Sunday, April 12, at 2:00 p.m.
The inductees are: Dontaie Allen, Bart Lenox, Tanner Clos, Mike Taylor, Greg Black, Dave Orth, Greg Himes, Louis Power, Jay Cummins, Vernon Kalb, Blaine Henry, John Kennard, Terry King, Jeff Miller, and Tony Smith.
Dontaie Allen – Pendleton County (2019)
Dontaie Allen finished his Pendleton County career with 3,255 points and 1,228 rebounds. During the 2018-19 season, he averaged 42.9 points and 14.2 rebounds but was limited to 13 games after suffering a torn ACL on December 22, 2018. On December 21, 2018, he scored a career-high 57 points in a win over Bryan Station. Allen was named Kentucky Mr. Basketball in 2019. Allen committed to Kentucky and later played for the Wildcats. One of his most notable games came on January 2, 2021, when he scored 23 points and made seven threes in Kentucky’s double-overtime win at Mississippi State. At Western Kentucky, Allen played in 33 of 34 games in 2023-24, averaging 8.2 points and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 40.0% from three (56-for-140). He scored a season-high 30 points vs. FIU on January 25, 2024. Allen spent his final college season at Wyoming. He appeared in 32 games with 17 starts, averaging 24 minutes per game. He finished the season at 7.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per game, shooting 38.3% from the field.
Bart Lenox – Harrison County
Bart was an official in the Bluegrass Basketball Officials Association, serving the 10th and 11th Regions from 2000 to 2011. He worked numerous district tournaments and regional tournaments from 2004 to 2011. He called the 2010 10th Region Championship game between Mason County and George Rogers Clark at the Fieldhouse, the last year officials worked their own regional tournaments. He worked the boys’ Sweet 16 in 2009 and 2010. He was the crew chief on the 2009 state championship game. Bart began working college games in 2004. He began officiating for the Southeastern Conference in 2012. He worked his first NCAA Tournament game in 2019 and in 2025 worked in the NCAA Sweet 16.
Tanner Clos – Campbell County (2019)
Clos finished his career with 1,029 points. He won three district championships and a regional title in 2018. He was named First Team All-Region and NKY All-Conference.
Mike Taylor – Augusta (1968)
Taylor scored 1,155 career points and was a two-year varsity starter, leading the team in scoring in both seasons. He was named Most Outstanding Player for the Augusta Panthers during both his junior and senior years and was voted All-District and All-Region in each of those seasons. He was also a member of the NKIAC Team as a junior and senior. During his senior season, he led the team in every statistical category except rebounds and was selected as an All-State Honorable Mention by the Lexington Herald.
Greg Black – Maysville
Black played for the Bulldogs from 1982 to 1984 scoring 1,222 points.
Dave Orth – Campbell County
Orth has been a statistician and bus driver for the team for over 25 years.
Greg Himes
Himes, a member of the Maysville High School Class of 1984, contributed to local basketball programs in a variety of roles over several decades. He served as a boys and girls basketball manager/statistician at Maysville from 1980-1984 under Coach Bob Hall, later worked as a volunteer scout for the Maysville boys team (1986-88) under Mike Reitz, and volunteered as a basketball coach at the Tom Browning Boys Club during 1988-90 and 1996-98. Himes also served as an assistant coach at Bracken County High School in 1990 under Bob Hall, helping the team reach the 38th District runner-up finish. At Mason County, he worked as an assistant coach and athletic trainer during a stretch that included several district and regional titles, a 2003 Kentucky state championship, and a 2004 state runner-up finish. In addition, he served as a 10th Region/39th District Tournament athletic trainer (2001-2004), a Kentucky-Indiana All-Star liaison (2004, 2008, 2009), and an Ohio-Kentucky All-Star coach, medical director, and committee member from 2003-2012.
Veterans’ Committee:
Louis Power – Brooksville
Power graduated from Brooksville High School in 1940. He played basketball three seasons from 1938 to 1940, scoring 209 points. He helped his team to District and Region Championships in 1939 and 1940, and a State Championship in 1939. Louis Power went on to Eastern Kentucky, where he graduated with a degree in Education. He was the associate head coach for Jarvis Parsley from 1949 to 1959. During that time, Bracken County won District Championships in 1952, 1953, 1954, and 1955, with a Region Championship in 1955. He also served as a teacher at Bracken County High School and coached the middle school basketball team. He left Bracken County in 1960 to become principal at Glasgow. In 1970, he became a professor at Eastern Kentucky University.
Jay Cummins – Brooksville
Joshua “Jay” Wells Cummins played basketball for four seasons, scoring 297 points. He helped his team to a 30-4 record his junior year in 1939. That year, Brooksville won a District, Region, and State Championship. The Polar Bears won a District and Region Championship the following year in 1940.
Vernon Kalb – Brooksville
Kalb played basketball three seasons from 1936 to 1939, scoring 209 points. The 1938 team was 22-2 and lost to eventual state runner-up Maysville in the first round of the blind draw district tournament. He was a starter for the District, Region, and State Championship teams in 1939. He was named 2nd Team All-State in 1939 and was the team captain who accepted the state championship trophy.
