10th Region Boys Basketball Rankings & Review: Week 8

1. Mason County

W – Pendleton County (67-40)
W – Dixie Heights (84-57)
W – Johnson Central (86-46)

Mason County cruised through another week of opponents and have a very impressive record of 20-2. Who will be the next team to challenge the Royals? Mason County heads down to Augusta on Friday night.

2. George Rogers Clark

W – Tates Creek (72-50)
W – Paris (103-48)

The Cards are back on track and have won seven straight. They also have secured the #1 spot in the district. Jerone Morton led with 26 points in both games.

3. Campbell County

W – Holmes (84-49)
L – Holy Cross (75-90)
L – Boyd County (107-110, 2OT)

The highlight of the Camels’ week is their double overtime loss to Boyd County. Adyan Hamilton dropped 36 points and Garyn Jackson followed with 26. They face Scott this Saturday in the final district seed game for first place.

4. Harrison County

W – Bracken County (56-42)
W – Robertson County (73-20)
W – Tates Creek (68-57)

The Breds put up a blowout win over Robertson County and two solid wins over Bracken County and Tates Creek. Kaydon Custard scored his 1,000th career point vs. Robertson County as well.

5. Montgomery County

W – Trinity Christian (67-56)
L – Rowan County (55-58)

The Indians are at full strength now but dropped a three point game to Rowan County in Morehead. Gentry had 15 and Decker had 14.

6. Scott

W – Bishop Brossart (81-75)
L – Western Hills (65-51)

Scott is now at full strength with Nolan Hunter. It may take them time to get adjusted to their 6’5″ man in the middle, though, as he is playing limited minutes. Their five game win streak came to an end vs. an 7-9 Western Hills team. Brayden Howell led with 19. They also took down district rival Brossart earlier in the week in Alexandria. Carter Eten led with 21.

7. Bracken County

L – Harrison County (42-56)
W – Fleming County (65-62)
L – Cooper (43-60)

The Polar Bears had a roller coaster of a week to say the least. They dropped a big time region matchup in Cynthiana where Coach Reed received two technicals and was removed from the game. He will serve a three game suspension per KHSAA rules. Then, they follow that up with an impressive win over Fleming County where Cayden Reed made a half court shot for the win.

8. Augusta

W – Robertson County (90-45)
L – Walton-Verona (94-99, OT)
W – Pike County Central (71-68)

Augusta lost a shootout to Walton-Verona where Conner Snapp had 32, LJ Conner had 25, and Kylan Hinson had 20. Snapp and Conner are closing in on 1,000 career points and should get the mark in the next week or two.

9. Bishop Brossart

L – St. Henry (41-73)
L – Scott (75-81)

A rough week for Brossart following their 10th Region All “A” Classic championship. They had a blowout loss to St. Henry and dropped a home district seed game to Scott. They play Hazard on Thursday at EKU in All “A” State.

10. Paris

L – George Rogers Clark (48-103)
W – Pineville (76-47)

Paris had a loss big loss to 40th district favorite Clark County on the road. They followed that up with a win over Pineville at Scott County. Malachi Ashford scored 34 points vs. Pineville and is the leading freshman scorer in the state.

11. Bourbon County

W – Nicholas County (63-51)
W – Bluegrass United (65-57)

12. Nicholas County

L – Bourbon County (51-63)
W – Pendleton County (64-51)
L – Rockcastle County (47-70)

13. Pendleton County

L – Mason County (40-67)
L – Nicholas County (51-64)
L – Gallatin County (39-82)

14. Calvary Christian

15. Robertson County
