10thRegion.com Week 5 Area Football Preview and Predictions

Game score predictions from CalPreps.com.

Lloyd Memorial 26, Bishop Brossart 7

The Mustangs take on the 2-2 Juggernauts in their toughest game so far. Tyler Smith has been key to the Mustangs’ success. He is 9/10 on PAT’s and won them the game last week on a 37-yard field goal. Lloyd Memorial’s offense is led by QB Isaiah Sebastian who is passing for an average of 57 yards. Their backfield has 8 different players running for at least 10 ypg, with Kaiden Zulager averaging 116 yards.

Mason County 34, Boyd County 17

The Royals head to Ashland to take on Boyd County and hope to stay undefeated coming off their bye week. Keshaun Thomas is passing for over 200 ypg to primary target Terrell Henry who is close to 100 ypg in the air. Boyd County’s only loss is to 2020 3A State Champion Ashland. The Lions also have a strong QB and WR core.

Campbell County 24, Connor 19

The Camels are on a three-game losing streak with a 2-point loss to Cooper last week. They host the Cougars in Alexandria this week. Nathan Smith is throwing for 153 ypg and rushing for almost 100 ypg. He is without his leading WR target, though, but has been finding Combs and Bauwens downfield for an average of about 30 ypg each.

Estill County 35, Harrison County 24

It looks like the Thorobreds will once again try to win another track meet this week. The Breds are averaging almost 6 touchdowns per game, but are giving up 7. Kaydon Custard has been putting up Madden-type numbers averaging 237 passing yards and near 100 rushing yards. Jaxon Zink has been his primary target downfield with 45 ypg. Zink also has 29 tackles so far, 6 being for a loss. Estill County is 3-1, but hasn’t faced too strong of competition. They beat Powell County, South Laurel, and Dayton, who have a combined record of 3-9. So look for this score to be closer than the CalPreps matchup predictor.

Frankfort 42, Bracken County 28

The Polar Bears 3-0 for the first time since 2012. Dylan Teegarden is having a huge year in the goal to replace Peyton Gilvin’s 1,000 yards last season. He already has 404 rushing yards in just 3 games on 42 attempts. Bracken’s experience offensive line helps in that, of course. They take on Frankfort in Brooksville Friday. Frankfort’s only loss is 30-56 to Paris. This game will help give us a gauge of the 5th District. Frankfort’s QB is throwing for 158 yards a game.

Great Crossing 42, Bourbon County 22

David Jones’ Colonels haven’t shied away from competition. In a tough district, they have been playing tough opponents to help them prepare. They played at Belfry, and travel to Great Crossing this Friday. Great Crossing is undefeated at 4-0 so far. The Warhawks won last year’s game 28-7. Bourbon QB Clay Estes is having quite the year despite the teams he has been facing. He is averaging 188 passing yards a game and 63 rushing yards a game.

Montgomery County 38, Russell 28

The Indians are off to an 0-3 start with two blowout losses to Mason and Clark. Russell finds themselves in a similar situation. They are 0-4 with blowout losses to Raceland and Lawrence County. Former Georgetown OC Coach Caba of MoCo hasn’t been afraid to let it fly. QB Alex Hatton is 35/70 in 3 games. Hatton has 5 interceptions and 5 touchdowns, throwing for 176 yards per game.

Paris 58, Morgan County 0

The Greyhounds are expected to win again this week. Last week’s CalPreps prediction had a close game between Paris and Ludlow. Paris left no doubt, winning that one 42-8. Paris, who was ranked 4th in the preseason district rankings by the Cats Pause, is making their case to be the district favorite.

Nicholas County 49, Pendleton County 6

The Bluejackets are 4-0, the Wildcats are 0-4.

Scott 48, Grant County 21

Scott has lost two one-point games and could easily be 3-1, but they find themselves 1-3.
